Apple MacBook Pro MagSafe 1 60 W Power Adapter from Prime 1 Parts

I have a MacBook Pro from mid-2012 with the original style magsafe power adapter port.  I keep my factory charger plugged in on my desk, but when I use my laptop on my sofa in front of hte tv, really wanted an extra charger so I can keep going when the battery starts to run low.  The factory chargers are so expensive from Apple, so I was looking around for alternatives when I saw this Dynamic Charger device from Prime 1 Parts.  I was really intrigued by the range of attractive colors and the small size of the AC adapter portion itself – much less bulky than the factory original charger.  In fact with the colors I had a hard time deciding which one to order – I was tempted by the turquoise, but ended up going with silver, which is quite nice.

Now that I’ve had a chance to try this out, I am so impressed!  First of all, the quality of the materials used is really nice.  The cord is the type that feels like it is silicone coated – I’ve had cords of other types like this before and find that they tend to be more durable and also more resistant to tangling.  I like that there is a velcro bundling strap permanently attached to the cord – this makes it easy to fold up the cord for travel or storage and also allows me to just shorten the cord if I don’t need the full length at any time.  There is also a small cord clip that slides along the length of the clip that lets the cord be doubled up (basically a hairpin turn) to just slightly restrict the length.

Most importantly though is the performance of the device as a charger.  In this respect, it is doing a great job.  The magsafe adapter pairs perfectly with the plug on my MacBook Pro and has a light (red when charging, green when fully charged) just like the Apple cord.  It seems to charge my laptop just as fast, if not faster, as the original power source – I was concerned that the smaller AC adapter box might not have as much power, but that has not been a problem at all.  I’ve tried other third party MacBook Pro power cords and had issues that one of them worked, but actually the whole cord got extremely hot while in use.  there are no such problems with the product from Prime 1 Parts.  The cord (and AC adapter) all remain at safe temperatures, in fact there is no noticeable heating at all on the cord.

All in all, I am extremely happy with this product.  It works perfectly when I’m using my laptop on the sofa and is so compact that it will be great when I’m traveling since it is lightweight and won’t take much space in my laptop case.

It’s right in my neck of the woods too, in the Philadelphia suburbs, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, January 2 and 3.  You can get a discount too:

My husband and I love cooking for ourselves and our kids, and I find that probably the most often used tool for us is a spatula, so I was happy to add this silicone-coated Demily spatula to our kitchen collection. I’m quite happy with this tool – the silicone coating makes it very gentle on surfaces, so I feel safe using it with our nonstick pans and other items that are prone to scratching. The silicone also makes it comfortable on my hand and easy to maintain a secure grip as well as making it easy to clean. This works nicely for flipping over sandwiches, eggs, and more and I know that it will be one of my go to tools for a long time to come.

Kids Easy Magnetic Closure Sandals by Gold Pigeon Shoes

My kids live in their sandals during the summer, and it’s really important to me that their footwear be comfortable, so when I saw these sandals by Gold Pigeon Shoes I was really intrigued with the design.  These are really well made and very cute too.  I ordered the orange sandals with a transportation theme – the raised colored cars and plane along the top of the straps and colorful scenes along the sole of the sandal are really eye catching and fun!

In terms of comfort and durability, these are top notch.  The soles are thick and flexible, to allow, which should provide a nice cushion to my son’s feet, and a nice tread pattern on the bottoms gives good traction.  The rubbery material is good for keeping his feet from sliding around.  In terms of getting a good fit, the design here is so clever.  The front strap is adjustable with a good quality, strong velcro.  The back (heel) strap can be adjusted in length with velcro on both sides, or can be removed completely if you prefer a backless style.

The best element though is the main strap that goes over the upper part of the foot.  It closes with a sturdy, circular magnet – this is so clever, because it makes it easy for even young kids to fasten and unfasten the strap as needed.  Since there isn’t a traditional buckle, it may seem at first that this strap can’t be adjusted in length, but actually that couldn’t be further from the truth.  This entire strap is connected to the sandal by velcro, so it can be lifted off and reattached to customize the length, actually getting much more custom fit than a buckle where you have to choose the best of several holes.

These should definitely stand up to a whole summer’s worth of outdoor rough play from my 5 year old!
